WELCOME

The Electric Propulsion Innovation & Competitiveness (EPIC) project, Grant Agreement n° 640199, has been selected by the European Commission to carry out the Programme Support Activity (PSA) for the Horizon 2020 Electric Propulsion Strategic Research Cluster (SRC) “In-Space electrical propulsion and station keeping”. EPIC consortium is led by ESA and composed of six national space agencies (ASI, BELSPO, CDTI, CNES, DLR, UKSA), and two European associations, Eurospace and SME4Space.

EPIC aims among others, to provide a clear integrated roadmap of activities and a master plan for its coordination and implementation through the Horizon 2020 SRC on Electric Propulsion (EP). EPIC is also tasked to provide advice and support to the European Commission on the calls for the SRC Operational Grants (OG), including call texts, technical annexes and further work programme-related documentation, assess the evolution and results of those OGs with respect to the overall SRC roadmap, and organize different EPIC Workshops on SRC activities and space electric propulsion technologies.

DATE

The EPIC Workshop 2019 will be held on 21-23 October 2019 in ESTEC, The Netherlands at Newton meeting room and will be organized by ESA and EPIC.

  • Interested speakers presentation proposals: title, description of the presentation, and speaker: 26 June (EPIC Abstract Submission Portal)
  • EPIC notification of acceptance based on relevance for the workshop and invitation to speakers: 1st July
  • EPIC preliminary programme publication: 15th July
  • General registration opens: 1st Sept
  • General registration closes: 30th Sept
  • EPIC final programme publication: 30th Sept
  • Invited speakers submission of final presentation material: 14th Oct
  • Workshop dates: 21st-23th Oct

SCOPE OF THE WORKSHOP

Present the Horizon 2020 Electric Propulsion SRC activities to the EP community and stakeholders and to collect and assess the latest EP technology developments in Europe.

The Preliminary Programme will be published and will cover the following sessionsPreliminary Programme EPIC Workshop 2019:

  • PSA and SRC progress and activities (EC, REA, EPIC PSA),
  • Outline of Horizon 2020 Space Work Programe 2018-2020 topics for Electric Propulsion SRC (EC, REA), in particularly the SRC Call 2020 text and guidelines,
  • Round table and stakeholders interaction on Satellite Constellations & EP (invited speakers),
  • Incremental SRC OGs: objectives, proposed approach, team, progress, and results (CHEOPS, GIESEPP, HEMPT-NG),
  • Disruptive SRC OGs: objectives, proposed approach, team, progress, and final results (GaNOMIC, HiperLoc-EP, MINOTOR),
  • Round table and stakeholders interaction on CubeSats & EP (invited speakers),
  • New developments on EP Technologies, promising thrusters and transversal technologies (open to speakers),

REGISTRATION

Open from 1th Sept until 30th Sept!

The number of participants to this workshop is limited due to the limited availability of seats at the venue, so the registration of non-speakers will be accepted on a “first come, first served” basis. Online registration is required and it will be open on this web.
